The article discusses the role of antioxidants in protecting the skin from the non-negative effects of environmental factors. The main attention is devoted to coenzyme Q10, its study, application in cosmetics and medicine. The increased interest in the topic of aging and cell protection is associated with the study of so-called Skulachev ions capable of penetrating mitochondria. The prospects of formulations with such ions (including for cosmetic use) are also noted in the article.

Activated charcoal is becoming an increasingly popular cosmetic ingredient. It is added to care and cleansing cosmetic products and toothpastes. Cosmetic products with activated carbon are produced by both large international companies and niche brands, including in Russia.
