With more than 1,600 members, the SEPAWA is one of Europe‘s largest professional associations for the detergent/cleaner, cosmetic and fragrance industry. The trade association considers itself a communication platform for experts from the industry, universities and authorities.
Endowed Professorship
In cooperation with the Association for the Promotion of Science and Humanities in Germany, SEPAWA has sponsored an endowed professorship since 2016. This professorship was installed at the University of Applied Science in Ostwestfalen-Lippe for the Technology of detergents, Cosmetics and Pharmacy. The aim is to foster education and research in the fields of SEPAWA-relevant knowledge.
SEPAWA Congress 2018: 64 years of growth!
Starting with the foundation of the SEPAWA e.V. in Ludwigshafen/Rhine in 1954, the SEPAWA Congress was held in Bad Dürkheim in 1955 for the first time. Now in 2018, the congress is located in Berlin in Germany`s largest conference hotel – the Estrel.
Focused on ingredients and techniques, the annual SEPAWA Congress 2018 is the largest and most comprehensive b2b event for the Home, Personal Care and Fragrance industry in Europe. With a total of 154 oral and poster presentations, all delegates have the opportunity to receive a comprehensive overview over the developments, innovations and new technologies in the formulation of Home and Personal Care products. On the Exhibition floor, over 260 companies display their ingredients and services, and visitors can discuss raw materials and formulation techniques, connect with their suppliers and find new business partners.
The annual SEPAWA Congress enables the close exchange between science and application, resulting in technical and economical progress.
The scientific program of the lectures is established with the support of DGK e.V. (German Society of Applied and Scientific Cosmetics) and the GdCh Detergent Chemistry, which organizes the EDC (European Detergents Conference) within the SEPAWA Congress.
Organized by the DGP (German Society of Perfumers), a special focus at this year`s SEPAWA Congress is on fragrances. In the “Fragrances: Science, Regulation and Market” session, delegates see how the reception of fragrances can influence our senses and even our health. Renowned speakers present the fragrance topics and are ready for discussion.
As a special feature and with the assistance of the HTW school of Berlin, a Fashion Show will take place in connection with the experience of fragrances specially created for this event on the evening of Wednesday 11 October 2018.
During the congress, SEPAWA awards innovations from ingredient suppliers and recognizes the achievements of young researchers.
SEPAWA Awards for young scientists
The SEPAWA specifically promotes young scientists. Excellent junior researchers are awarded with up to eight prizes a year on the annual SEPAWA Congress. Up to three prizes are awarded to graduates with a bachelor degree.
Likewise, up to three prizes are awarded to postgraduates with a master’s degree.
In addition, two outstanding doctoral theses will be awarded.
The topics of the work must be application-related and take into account the specialist areas of the SEPAWA. The association thus provides important incentives for scientific debate.
SEPAWA Innovation Awards
SEPAWA presents three innovation awards to exhibitors every year. These awards are intended to encourage companies from the detergents/cleansers, cosmetics and fragrance industries to develop innovations, implement them and make them accessible to consumers. The awards are meant to give an impetus to active management of ideas in companies.
