Genomic integrity to rejuvenate the skin

The term genome is understood as a natural storage system for the whole hereditary information of an organism. The Forkhead box (FOX) proteins represent an essential family of transcriptional factors that regulate the expression of genes implicated in vital functions, characterized by the conserved DNA-binding domain named FOX. In humans, FOXO3a is a key factor as its active form regulates cellular redox status by increasing the levels of well-known antioxidants, leads to a quiescent cell stage to amend DNA errors, induces the expression of genes involved in DNA-damage repair and is able to trigger apoptosis. Acetyl Hexapeptide-51 Amide proved its in vitro and in vivo efficacy as a DNA-repair and cellular protecting active ingredient in several assays, which macroscopically translates into a general skin improvement and rejuvenation.
