We regret to inform you that with immediate effect, BASF hereby has to declare Force Majeure for EO-based products produced in Europe in the portfolio of Home Care and industrial & Institutional Cleaning, Formulation Technologies, AgChem Additives and certain EO-based products in the portfolio of Personal Care.

This Force Majeure declaration is due to raw material shortage and Force Majeure declaration by BASF SE on Ethylene Oxide (EO). BASF’s European production sites for EO have experienced significant technical problems over the last days leading to a shut­down of the Ludwigshafen EO-plant on Sunday May 17, 2015. The necessary repair work at the Ludwigshafen EO plant started immediately. For the Antwerp EO plant the production rate had to be reduced.

This outage is beyond BASF’s reasonable control and impacts our ability to supply you with above mentioned products. We currently expect that the supply situation of the affected products will improve towards end of June.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to your company. Please be assured that we continue to use all reasonable efforts to mitigate the effects of this outage.

We will keep you informed of any change in this situation as it progresses including the duration of these circumstances. We regret this situation and appreciate your patience.
