Domestic x International: Sourcing Haven for the Industry

According to Research and Markets[1], the China cosmetics market was estimated to be worth USD 39.13 billion in 2015 and will grow at a CAGR of 10.23% over the forecast period, to USD 63.69 billion by 2020. Even as economists observe a slowing growth in the Chinese economy, the country remains the second largest cosmetics market in the world.

Occupying 32,000 sqm this year, PCHi will present a comprehensive range of cosmetics ingredients and emerging technologies from a total of more than 530 exhibitors — over 40% of which are international companies participating to grow their presence in the China market. This includes DSM, Givaudan, Nikkol Group, Huntsman P&A, and Croda.

Peter LIU, Project Manager at RSE, said, “PCHi is a unique platform that gathers the global personal care industry right as the year begins. We facilitate meetings and exchange between the domestic and international crowds — whether suppliers, manufacturers, service providers, or knowledge experts. Our thorough understanding of the market and our wide connections have enabled us to play this role well, and we’ll continue to develop this strength to maintain our leadership position.”

Innovation Takes Center Stage

Into its 11th edition now, the show’s steady growth and development in the last decade has reinforced its status as the preferred launch pad for new products and technologies. Exhibitors regularly use PCHi as the choice platform to introduce their latest offerings to the market, and there will be numerous global and Asia launches at PCHi this year — including a UV protection enhancer, a natural polymer for smoother formulations, powders that enable better dispersions, a skin conditioning fruit extract, an anti-aging neuro-balm, and various other natural extracts with specific applications. Visitors can head to theNew Products Showcase for a quick overview, as well as look out for New Launch signs on exhibitors’ booths as they explore the show floor.

Industry professionals can also expect to uncover information on key areas of cosmetics packaging — design trends, manufacturing technologies, and material innovation — at the Packaging Innovation Zone, which is presented in collaboration with international market research firm, Mintel. Featuring daily live demonstrations, the area is created to inspire and to offer attendees ideas on possibilities for their product packaging.

Invaluable Learning & Networking Opportunities

Attendees interested in learning more about the latest technologies, rules and regulations, market trends, and packaging solutions can do so at the PCHi Conference. As a vital part of the show, the PCHi Conference Program covers a comprehensive range of topics under the four main tracks of Technology, Rules & Regulations, Market Trends, and Packaging. A majority of the conference sessions will be presented in Mandarin, with selected sessions delivered in English, Japanese, and Korean.

International visitors who are keen on picking up market entry tactics — particularly to gain an overview on the regulatory climate and market trends of the Chinese Personal Care Market — can look forward to a half-day complimentary conference tailored for them. Scheduled for the afternoon of 20 March, the conference track will address the rising interest for China among international industry players, and the introduction of this new conference track signals the increasing importance RSE places on the global audience. In addition to gathering new knowledge at the conference sessions, attendees will also have the golden opportunity to connect and network with the various industry experts and academics.

At PCHi 2018, various participating exhibitors will also be sharing more about their latest ingredients and ground-breaking solutions with the industry at the New Technology Sessions, held in two venues on the show floor.

Celebrate Innovation, Accord Recognition

On 19 March 2018, RSE will host a gala dinner to celebrate the industry’s growth and development, and also honor contributions that companies and individuals have made to the personal care industry. Representatives of participating exhibitors and industry associations, along with VIPs and members of the trade press, will be invited to attend the Industry Gala Night.

Winners of the 2018 PCHi Fountain Awards, which have been selected from over 100 submissions, will be announced at the gala event. Submissions were assessed against a standard set of criteria by a judging panel of established domestic and international scientific researchers, and experts from renowned Universities, Research Institutions, and PCHi’s Cosmetics Science & Technology Innovation Committee (CSTIC).

Industry professionals planning to attend PCHi 2018 are encouraged to pre-register before 15 March at www.pchi-china.com/en/visitors/visitor-register.
