in-cosmetics North America reveals Repairogen and Colgate-Palmolive as winners following exciting first day of in-cosmetics North America 2017

The winners of in-cosmetics North America 2017’s Formulation Challenge and brand new initiative JPitch™ with Johnson & Johnson Innovation have been announced at the event’s glittering Cocktail and Awards reception.

Repairogen was awarded the $5,000 USD JPitch™ prize fund, while Colgate-Palmolive scooped the Formulation Challenge Award after creating an exceptional new beauty product in just 90 minutes.

Following a competitive pitch earlier in the day, Repairogen was chosen by an executive panel of judges from Johnson & Johnson Innovation’s team of R&D and business experts. Other shortlisted companies were Constructive Research & Development, Repairogen, Sciadonics, USM-Nano Corp., Be U Cosmetics, NoseCleen, BuddyNSoul
ReinEsse LLC and Dermal Photonics.

Repairogen is a revolutionary breakthrough in skin repair that will improve the appearance and health of your skin. Its technology delays the visible appearance of skin aging amd enhances the efficiency of the process by two distinct mechanisms – prolonging the time a cell has to discover the damage caused, and increasing the activity of the enzymes involved in the repair process.

Frank Borchetta, President of Repairogen, commented: «It’s so exciting to be recognised by a company like Johnson & Johnson Innovation. It’s a real feather in our cap and I didn’t expect to win. Our aim is to innovate in the skincare space and winning the JPitch will help us achieve our goal.”

Day one of in-cosmetics North America also saw a showdown between Colgate-Palmolive, Estée Lauder, Shiseido and Unilever. Teams from the cosmetic giants battled it out in a purpose-built lab to create a formulation masterpiece from a box of mystery ingredients supplied by exhibitors.

Judged by The Institute of Personal Care Science and Mintel, Colgate-Palmolive’s team fought off competition from Estée Lauder, Shiseido and Unilever. The company impressed the panel with its innovative anti-pollution product. A close second, Estee Lauder was given the runner up prize for its innovative face mask.

Speaking after receiving the award from Pam Busiek of ICMAD, Ewelina Lesniak from Colgate-Palmolive said: “We are so happy to have won and proud of the teamwork we exhibited. The challenge was so much fun – if a little bit stressful! The atmosphere was brilliant and we can’t wait to return next year.”

After presenting the award, Belinda Carli, Director at The Institute of Personal Care Science, added: “We were very impressed by the outstanding inventiveness shown by the four teams. Once again, the Formulation Challenge has highlighted the creativity of our industry, which is also evident in the range of innovation across the exhibition floor.”

in-cosmetics North America continues tomorrow (October 12, 2017), with its range of interactive areas, bespoke program for marketing and R&D professionals and full educational program including Marketing Trends presentations, Technical Seminars and hands-on Formulation Lab sessions. The event is taking place at Javits Center New York City. For further information please visit http:northamerica.in-cosmetics.com.
