Presentation Abstract:
While the global ingredients market value is estimated at close to USD 20.0 billion, the market value for specialty personal care ingredients is estimated at USD 9.0 billion in 2015. As sales of such ingredients have witnessed growth in the last few years, this growth is expected to continue in the future, providing an opportunity to ingredients suppliers to increase their presence in the industry. Europe and the United States remain the two largest markets in the world, notably because of their strong orientation towards specialty ingredients. They are followed by Brazil and China, the two most developed markets among the maturing countries. In comparison to other markets, Brazil protrudes with its greater focus on the hair care segment, followed by Japan, Southeast Asia, and India. Southeast Asia and India are the smallest markets covered in our study.
This presentation will closely look at the state of the global specialty ingredients market, focusing on regional specificities.

Dr. Surapol Natakankitkul 王文忠 is a very successful and internationally accredited academic. Currently he is the associate professor of Pharmacy at Chiang Mai University. He has over 25 scientific papers, acknowledged world-wide for his work in the application of herbal medicine and cosmetic. He was born in Nakhon Sawan, the center of Thailand. He was the excellent student, finished his secondary education at Triam Udom school, Phayathai in Bangkok, and then he graduated from Faculty of Pharmacy, Chiang Mai University in 1975. Emerging with his Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, he went to Phayao provincial hospital as a clinical pharmacist. He also gave a lecture in Pharmacology for many Nursing Colleges almost 10 years. He went to Chulalongkorn University to study his Master’s degree in Clinical and Hospital Pharmacy, finishing in 1987. He has got a scholarship from the Austrian government to study biotechnology and analytical chemistry. He involved in the multi-centered Human Genome Project at Innsbruck University Hospital. He spent almost three years and got his PhD in Analytical Chemistry and Biotechnology from Innsbruck University in 1991. He returned to Thailand, he involved with the hill tribe peoples, by becoming a volunteer in the Princess Mother’s projects. He was invited to Chiang Mai University to become a lecturer in 1995. He also joined with the Rotary International and became the President of the Rotary Club of Chiang Mai North in 2004. He was a leader of Group Study Exchange teams to Australia. He has been the consultant of the Royal Project Foundation in the investigation of pesticide residues on vegetables. He was concurrently the deputy director of the University Academic Service Centre (UNISERV). He has been involved QA auditor and consultant, for ISO 9000:2015 and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP/HACCP), Hospitals Accreditation (HA). Now he is the president of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists of Thailand (SCCT). He has lectured over 300 master students in 3 universities for 10 years. He has travelled to China, Japan, Europe and USA. In the present, he is interesting to develop natural sources on innovation projects for food supplement, energize drink, herbal medicine and cosmetic with private sectors.
