Croda’s Solar Protection R&D group established a research partnership with Newcastle University, to investigate long wavelengths in photoprotection. Experiments were conducted to determine the effects of the different components of sunlight on cells from the dermis (fibroblasts) and skin equivalents and the generation of Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) that contribute to oxidative stress, a factor of ageing.
